Tonight at 7:30 is the time for the cele bration of the 25th anniversary of the Tryon Kiwanis Club at Oak Hall hotel. Carroll P. Rogers, the first president, will be the toast master. The chief speaker will be the District Governor J. 0. Tally Jr., of Fayetteville . . . The next big meeting at Oak Hall will be the annual dinner meeting Mon day night of the Tryon Chamber of Commerce with Dr. Francis Pendleton Gaines Jr., president of Wofford College, as chief speaker. Jerry Ball of Charlotte will enter tain with piano music, songs, pologues and stunts. A turkey Tier will be served and tickets ay be obtained from the Cham ber of Commerce office - or any member of the committee which consists of President George D. Cooksey, John G. Landrum Jr., f ma; Nelson Jackson 2nd, Mrs. Fred Owen, Mrs. M. C. Brendall. Rev. Henry O. Hearn will give the in vocation and Past President How ard Frankenfteld will give a sum mery of the year’s activities. . . . The Women Golfers and Bridge Players of the Tryon Country Club are sponsoring a luncheon Tuesday, October 28th at 1 p. m., at the Country Club. FOOTBALL NEWS The Tryon Tigers, licking their wounds from a 33-0 setback at the hands of Hendersonville, began preparation yesterday for their game at Christ School on Friday afternoon. The Tigers are in good shape except for Fred Ashley, who has a pulled shoulder muscle. He is expected to be ready by Friday, however, Ronnie Ross has been ruled out for the remainder of the season because of a leg injury and his loss will hurt the Tigers’ chances from here on out. The next home game for the Tigers will be on November T.st, against Asheville School. C. OF C. Rice Jr., of Route 1, Tryon; and Mrs. Etta Bradshaw, Lynn. There were no discharges. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McSwain of Route 1, Landrum, are the parents of a son born October 20, at 1:30 p. m. DEMOCRATIC RALLY A Democratic Rally will be held at Mill Spring- school Tuesday night at 7:30 with unnamed state leader as chief speaker. A similar meeting will be held Thursday night at Saluda, accord ing to County Chairman W. H. Mc Donald.
